Hello Family and Friends!!! Another week here in Forks gone by! This week wasn't as entertaining as last week but still pretty good!
Tuesday: I got my first haircut today! I don't look too bad haha. I definitely prefer a haircut from home!! I also got bit by a dog on today! It hurt really bad and the dog punctured through my leg and my ward mission leader and my companion were freaking out about it. It was no big deal after I washed it out with soap and water, it was just stiff because of the bruise. I am all good now! It is bruised pretty good but it doesn't hurt much. Wow! my first dog bite, it was a pretty exciting day haha. I also got a chance to meet a really promising investigator, if his mom would be kind enough to bring him to church. His name is Ethan Bello. He is 11 years old and he loves soccer, I am able to connect with him super easy! I was so excited to actually meet him. We have tried 10 times to meet with him, but he was always "gone". His dad is a JW so he doesn't like us to come around very much.
Wednesday: Today was my first zone meeting, it was fun! Our Zone Leader lost around 100 pounds since he came out into the mission field so he ripped off one of his old church shirts that was way to big for him. We made a flag like Helaman did in the scriptures, it was soooo funny! I also got to play soccer with Ethan Bello today and we taught him part of the plan of Salvation and he picked his own baptismal date! It won't work anymore because he didn't come to church yesterday and he has to come to church 2 weeks in a row in order to be baptized. The good thing was he picked his own day. We promised to play another soccer game if we could give him another lesson, and he was completely ok with that. We are going to play soccer and teach him a lesson on Thursday this week! I am so excited!!
Thursday: I had my first interview with President Blatter today! It was really good! I am the first greenie in Forks in a long time he said so he must really trust me haha. Forks used to be an apostate area. Missionaries would forge baptism records and bribe people with food and stuff to be baptized so President is really picky on who he sends to forks haha. I also got a package from Bekka, I got mexican candy!!!!!!!! I love mexican candy!!!! I also got a letter from Jessica with Pictures of us in them. The ones we took while I was taking my mission pictures. By the way mom, you did amazing on those pictures!! You are awesome!! I also got scriptures from both Bekka and Jessica that I marked right away! As soon as I could.
Friday: 1 month down today!! 23 more to go haha. We went to Clallam Bay again today and an appointment fell through... But we did meet a less active guy and talked with him for a little bit. That went ok, he doesn't want to come to church because he doesn't like people so he wants to stay home everyday. We also had our "ward Christmas party". If you could call it that. There were around 20 people there and 15 of them were kids... Not really haha but there was like no one there! We also taught this recent convert who barely got baptized and her husband, Tom and Kacy Larkin, that is a weird situation because Tom believes that the church is true and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that the Book of Mormon is true and he knows all of these things! Yet he refuses to get baptized because he likes to break the Word of Wisdom.
It is a struggle, but we are working on him!
Saturday: Today we did weekly planning. Weekly planning is where you plan for the next week and brainstorm who and what you want to teach and it takes fffooorrreeevvveeerrr!!! But we finished it... barely... then we went over to a family home in the ward, they are a less active family (there are a lot of less actives in Forks). They are the Mendenhal's and we gave sister Mendenhal a blessing which was really cool! then we helped Brother Gillum our ward mission leader dig a trench at his house which was pretty good! We did a lot of service today! We then ate at this amazing pizza place here in Forks. It was soooo good!! I loved it!! We also taught Shayla and Adrain Salazar, 2 of our most promising investigators who are on date for baptism for January 3rd and we invited them to come to church! But they didn't come...
Sunday: We had church today being full of faith and hope that our investigators would come, but none of them came... It was a sad day! We then went knocking, and the first guy that we knocked on was like " There is no soliciting in this trailer park" I was like, " Well thats good! Good thing we aren't solicitors! That would be bad!" and he said " Yes you are." and I kindly said " Nope! We haven't tried to sell you anything, have a nice night." and he kept saying that we were solicitors and he said I want you out of this trailer park. That was a real interesting person. We then came across another guy and gave him a Bible and he then gave us this piece of paper with these questions on there and I was like what is this, and the guy was like I don't know. I just sat down one night and something took over my body and wrote these questions. My favorite question that he wrote down was, and I am not kidding you, this is for real! He asked "What is a dibble dabble?" Haha I got a good laugh out of that! It was pretty hilarious! Then Elder Larson and I argued about how great Batman is. He doesn't think Batman is a beast so I argued on how he was for like 25 minutes! The things you argue about in the mission field hahaha.
So that was my week!!! It was pretty great! I love all of you so much! Thank you for the strength that you all give me! You keep me pushing forward when I want to give up because I know that I have support behind me and if I fall I will have you guys there to pick me up! Thank you for all that you do for my family and myself.
With much Love!
